Tate, a graduate of Western Kentucky University in Theater, describes himself on his LA Now Casting page as, proudly being from (the great state of) Tennessee, being half Scottish, half Irish, accompanied by true southern hospitality and redneck spice. Tate originally tested for Bobby Hatcher, but we loved that southern hospitality thing with the Redneck spice, that seemed perfect for a kindly idealistic man, leaving his lucrative day job as a trial lawyer, to pursue public office, and have enough charm, sincerely, and passion to convince his friends to follow him and fork over their life savings to help finance his campaign, and win the allegiance of place and people he knows nothing about to send him to Congress. In WILD SUNFLOWERS , Wesley is truly a stranger in a strange land, a big city boy, who moves to a southern agricultural district for the purpose of unseating a ten term Congressman. It’s an idea that seems so absurd, that even his political party won’t support him. The only person who really takes Wes seriously, is his opponent, who after 20 years of public service understands that nothing in politics is taken for granted. But, Wes believes in destiny, and hammers on. His belief in destiny goes beyond politics, and when his eyes meet a pretty young woman in a small town cafe on a campaign stop, he believes her to be the love of his life.
