The government of the Nation-State is so partisan, and equally divided that it is rendered impotent. A deal is struck to hire neutral managers (Secretary Cadre) to attend to the normal disposition of government. A paranoid group from the Recessive Party become convinced that the Secretaries favor the opposing ideology, and ruin of the Nation-State is at hand. An insurrection is planned. Their intent is to disgrace a prominent Secretary by ruining his current marriage, then enticing him with an illegal and illicit romance. The insurrection is financed by a corporate icon, with political ambitions. The plan succeeds, then the Icon's true intentions are made known. The Icon turns out to have little interest in politics, but significant interest in the Secretary’s former wife. The Secretary’s new spouse, well actually his new widow, begins to gain prominence....maybe with the help and knowledge of the Icon...and maybe not.
