Mike Rictor in Am Skin II, 2005, 15 years later on Washington’s tough side
American Skin II, the continuation of the original underground classic American Skin, is now available in Serial form on YouTube. Skin II was originally conceived as a 5 part, 6 hour story, but, only about 3.5 hours were completed. Most of the photography occurred in 2004 and 2005. The plan was to increase the scope and the production value of the project by means of multiple filmmakers producing segments at multiple locations. Thomas Griffith wrote the script, based on characters from the original screenplay by Mike Rohr. The storyline was similar, but updated from the 1991 original. There was a myriad of issues as you might expect, but, but good footage and interesting interpretations were garnered from locations in Los Angeles, London, Columbus, Ohio, Richmond, Virginia, and Washington, DC, as well as Straightawaymovies’ home turf of South Florida. The project features original stars Rohr, and Al Sivilla, as well as character actors from Florida, Rick Michaels, Greg Schroeder, and Lance Balding. Also, featuring LA based actors John Henry and Jesse Holland, and Ohio based Jonh Osbeck. Kid Richmond of Virginia, performed his first speaking role in the piece, and he has since established himself as one of the top fire stunt men in the business. The piece also includes a small cameo by Amanda Boxer, a staple of the London stage, and costar of Steven Speilberg’s “Saving Private Ryan”. Currently, there are 16 installments posted on YouTube, with the final 4 to be posted by Jan 1.
